March 1, 2022 (Boston) - Team Stride for Stride is gearing up for a busy spring with 30 runners in the BAA 5K, 8 runners in the Boston Marathon, and 38 runners in the Brooklyn Marathon + Half-Marathon.
Stride for Stride is a non-profit running organization that buys race bibs for immigrant, BIPOC, and low-income runners - our goal is to make races more accessible and more diverse. Since our first race just three years ago, Stride for Stride has grown to 138 sponsored runners from 17 different countries; Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Brazil, Chile, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Jamaica, Nigeria, Taiwan, and the United States.
Stride for Stride was founded because races are expensive - a cost that prevents many economically disadvantaged runners from competing in life-changing races like the Boston Marathon. This year (2022) alone Stride for Stride has spent $9,000 on race bibs for our team, and it’s only March.
126th Boston Marathon
The 126th Boston Marathon is April 18th, and 6 of our 8 runners are seeing their Boston dreams become reality for the first time on Marathon Monday. Kalliman, Estuardo, Julio, Bibiana, Dairon, Bryan, Karen, and Jessica, represent the best of running.
Brooklyn Marathon + Half-Marathon
The Brooklyn Marathon + Half-Marathon on April 24th will be the biggest showing yet for Team Stride for Stride, and it will also unite our Boston and NYC teams for the first time. We’re looking forward to increasing out team size in 2022 and welcome partnerships with races who want to increase diversity in their races.
In 2022 we’ve already ran and/or scheduled to run 64 races during the year. To see our upcoming races please visit: StrideForStride.net/races
